Fair ended, visit PLF 2015 - 2015 Shanghai Private Label Fair for Next PLF fair.

To accelerate the development of Private Label in China, 2014 Shanghai Private Label Fair (PLF 2014), jointly organized by the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) and Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Centre (ISPC), is to be held at Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing from Dec.10 to Dec.12, 2014. 

What is Private Label?

Private label products encompass all merchandise sold under a retailer`s brand. That brand can be the retailer`s own name or a name created exclusively by that retailer. The private label have dramatically changed the old retailing mode in China.

Private Label Fair

The development of Private Label has become a hot topic due to intensive competition in the retailing industry. Private Label System for supermarket has been well-established in the western countries and is favoured by many retailing companies, especially chain supermarkets..

However, Private Label in China is still in an early stage and has a long way to go.

Market performance of retailers` private label in China:

Features in current stage------

1.focus on fast moving consuming products, like food, grain and oil, products for daily use

2.lower price than products of the same kind (10%-20% lower)

3.simpler packing design

4.serious problem with quality----- quality guarantee system and quality control process need to be further improved

5.need to improve consumers’ recognition of “Private Label”: sellers need to improve marketing planning and marketing promotion

6. from the points of consumers’ psychology and buying behavior, most consumers choose private label for the reason of “excellent quality and reasonable price”. But most of consumers think it’s inferior to famous brands of the same kind

7. as to contribution in category sales, domestic private label only shares no more than 5% of the same products
