Mission and Tasks
Focuses on domestic and international exchange and communication in food science and technology;
Promotes the advancement of national food science and technology and research and development in industry, and also provides
consulting service;
Fosters cooperation among professionals in industry, academia and government;
Organizes continuing education and training of food science and technology;
Supports the technical innovation in food production, preservation, processing, manufacturing, circulation and etc;
Carries out public education in food science and technology.

CIFST is China’s National Representative Body to IUFoST

Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology is a national scientific society with members working in food science, food
technology and related professions in industry, academia, and government. As a member of China Association for Science
and Technology, CIFST is founded in November, 1980. CIFST is committed to capability building by recruiting the first-class
professionals, strengthen capability by helping industry and academia, and establish a platform for domestic and international
exchange for food professionals all over the country to promote the development of food science and technology in China. CIFST
joined IUFoST in September, 1984 as China national representative body. CIFST was approved to be IUFoST China headquarter in
2001, and successfully held the 14th World Congress of Food Science and Technology in 2008.
